Welcome to the Jesus Is Life Blog

My name is Tom. This blog is started out as my story–my journey–to an authentic relationship with the Son of God who saved me from a life of deceit and sinful living. My first post is a short, reader’s Digest-sized version of the night I came to Christ in a hospital emergency room. I thought I was on my way to Hell and, instead, experienced a transformation that has brought me joy, hope, and purpose to this day. That event took place on June 25, 2008.

Yes, this blog was born in an emergency room, but it lives to tell the story of grace that arrives right on time and saves completely. I am writing these articles and sharing those of others, that put forth the Biblical truths of what we all must do in order to be saved and other subjects pertaining to living the Christian life.

Reality Alert!

Salvation does not come by belonging to any specific denomination or religious institution. It comes only from a personal belief in Jesus, the Son of God. The Bible is not talking about an intellectual consent to the existence of Jesus but a life-altering decision to make Jesus the Lord (Boss) of your life and proving your faith by seeking to please him in everything you do, think, and say. And this can only be accomplished by being given the gift of the Holy Spirit to live inside of you. It’s called being Born Again. Jesus told Nicodemus, a leader of the Pharisees–the religious ruling class of his day, “Unless you are born again you can not enter the Kingdom of God.” -John 3:3

I thought I had missed my chance. Fifty-three years old, broken, a wasted life, and out of excuses. But Jesus didn’t turn me away. When I surrendered my life to him that night in the E.R., I felt all of my anxiety and fear of death slip out of me; felt the warmth of his loving embrace. I deserved nothing but he gave me everything that night.

If you’re here wondering if it’s too late for you—I hope these blog posts tell you otherwise. And I hope you will share your own testimony of Jesus’ grace, forgiveness, and love. Perhaps your story will be one that will turn a lost soul towards our loving and and gracious Savior.
His grace and mercy are NEW every morning.

Jesus and You

Jesus has fulfilled his part of the equation. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords left his lofty position in Heaven to take on a human body and live a sinless life, thus becoming the perfect sacrifice to take away the sins of the world. There is no sin that you have committed that disqualifies you to receive his grace and forgiveness.

The next move is yours alone. And once you surrender the authority over your life to him, your future is secure in the hands of the one who formed you in your mother’s womb.

Psalm 32:8 (NIV)–“I will instruct you and teach you in the way that you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)

13. “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

14. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

15. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

16. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. “
